Degree Programme
There are presently four undergraduate degree programmes offered by the Institute of Mathematical Sciences. The medium of instruction is mainly English. The courses in each programme are divided into University Courses, Program Core Courses and Elective Courses.
B.Sc.(Mathematics) / Bachelor of Science in Mathematics
This programme aims at producing graduates with a sound knowledge of mathematics, capable of analysing and solving
problems and thinking critically, able to adapt to diverse environment and contribute significantly in various professions.
B.Sc.(Industrial & Computational Mathematics) / Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics
Many of the courses offered under this programme are connected with the computational aspects of mathematics and are geared towards application of mathematics in industry and management. The goal is to produce graduates with a sound knowledge of computational and industrial mathematics who can adapt to diverse environment and contribute significantly in various professions
B.Sc.(Statistics) / Bachelor of Science in Statistics
This programme aims at producing undergraduates with a strong background in Statistics. Courses offered under this programme are designed with the aim of providing the undergraduates with a balance between theoretical understanding of statistical concepts and real-world applications of these concepts.
B.Sc.(Actuarial and Financial Mathematics) / Bachelor of Actuarial Science
This programme aims at producing undergraduates with a strong background in actuarial science, finance, statistics and mathematics to solve real-world problems. Courses offered under this programme are designed with the aim of providing the undergraduates with a balance between theoretical understanding of statistical concepts and applications of these concepts in life assurance, general insurance and investment.
